I’ve been a bit too busy getting settled in my new classroom to make a new Santa hotrod drawing, so I’m posting up my old but still favorite from last year.

I have been working on a few new pieces, so I will be posting some new artwork soon!

I got a Teaching job!

Hi everyone, Last week I said there would be a big announcement, so here it is! I just got a job as the art teacher for Stokes Elementary in Trenton, NJ!!! I can’t wait to share my passion for art with my students, and hopefully learn quite a bit myself.

I moved into this monstrous room on Tuesday, but sadly my art supplies consist of a few boxes of crayons and random paper so I am going to have to see what I can do with a tiny budget (and teach the students a lot about minimalist artwork while I’m waiting on my supplies to arrive). So far I’ve received some great donations of art supplies and posters from family and friends. If anyone has any art posters or old art supplies lying around I would be more than happy to accept any donations, send me an email or leave a comment if you are interested.

I will definitely continue with my automotive artwork, however wait times for InfamousJim’s Artwork will be a bit longer, especially as I am busy getting myself settled in the classroom.

Hello again everyone, here’s my latest work… a customized White Mustang GT (I think my next car is going to be white) with the owner’s son’s very own matched Power Wheels… And no finished drawing starts without a lot of planning and brainstorming sketches, so take a look at the few I put up too.

Hi everyone, here’s the first new look at a new InfamousJim’s Auto Art logo. This one’s more simple [versatile] than the old one, and I’m having it cut into window stickers in all different sizes and colors. What do you think?

Irene Aftermath

Hurricane Irene came through this weekend, My apartment is on high ground and I’m far enough from any rivers so I wasn’t effected at all. We did however loose power for 26 hours, So I spent all day Sunday stuffing my face before all my food went bad and sketched out a possible new direction of painting.

I am also becoming a bigger and bigger fan of these Prismacolor markers, they take tons of practice, but help create amazing effects. Luckily I have a Utrecht art supply warehouse around the corner so I can pick up any colors I need.

What do you think? Like the new direction??

Hey everyone, it’s been a while since an update so here you go. This is my rendering for the second phase of 402 Motoring’s latest full build. We finished the car earlier this month, and it is coming back later for a widebody, 2011+ tail, and suicide doors.

Art Education

Hi everyone, I just finished an incredible experience as a long term substitute for art in my old school district. I have a few examples of great student artwork from my automotive design lesson.

I taught my fourth graders a bit about automotive designers, showed examples of my work, work by Dwayne Vance, Chip Foose, and a few others. I also showed them the templates from the Factory Five 818 Design Challenge. Next I worked with the students to design their own vehicles, photocopied their illustrations, and had them create two or three different “paintjobs” for their cars.

Factory Five Design Contest

Hi again everyone, I’ve been very busy lately. This time it’s my submission for the Factory Five Racing design contest. I didn’t have enough time to put as much work into this as I would have liked, but here you go…

Factory Five is the company that is behind many(most/all) of the awesome Shelby Cobra style replica cars driving around, and the contest is to design their next car. The next car will be Subaru WRX based, mid/rear engine sports car.

I just started a 7 week long elementary-art substitute position and I’m also working with my old high school building sets for their production of Hairspray. I’ve also been keeping busy with some art (Days are 24 hours long, why not use all of them for work?)

Hope everyone’s doing alright with this unending snow. I’ve had about all the snow I can take, but snow days are a great excuse to lock myself in my studio and paint. I’m finishing a second TOW II painting, and have a couple more paintings to do after. I don’t call myself a photographer, but I do “dabble” in photography, so here’s a nice snow photo to hold you over. So as usual, keep checking in for updates

Modern Muscle!

First off, Happy New Year to everyone! Here’s to a happy and prosperous 2011!

Next order of business… All the signs are clearly visible… The big 3 each offer v8, manual transmission, rear wheel drive monster muscle cars again! It’s 1969 all over again! The window-stickers may be a bit steeper now, but these cars all come with over 400 horsepower, air conditioning, and get over 20mpg! (Hell, these modern musclecars can even do more than go straight fast, they can turn now!)

It’s time to live the dream, because just like in the late 60′s… Environmentalists are fighting for more fuel efficiency, and this week the news has been full of rising fuel price speculation.

So on to my latest work… My friend Cheech’s custom camaro built by 402 Motoring. (18″x24″ watercolor and pen)

Now that the musclecar wars are in effect as much here as on the street… Which one of my paintings is your favorite? Camaro, Challenger, or Mustang? Chime in with comments!

We have a few more paintings coming soon, until then, here’s some insight into the process behind the works you see here…

All the paintings here start with many sketches, the sketches are not only practice, but they let me try different effects and techniques for each drawing to see what fits the subject and customer best. Sometimes the finished painting looks exactly like my very first sketch, other times I go through dozens of sketches before I find something I like enough to put my name behind. The sketch gives the owner and I something to go on before I start working on the finished drawing.

Once I complete the painting, you get not only the finished work, but all sketches I created during the process as well.

Well, My work has been very mustang heavy lately, thanks mostly to my friends at NJStangers.org . Now however, we have a few different cars coming out.

Some may remember when I designed the paintjob for BigSpicy300′s Chrysler 300 (Check him out on facebook!) Well we’re working together again for a few more touches, this time I’m designing a custom headliner.

Also, here’s a quick sketch of Austin’s (Mustang08) Jeep Comanche. Trucks are fun to draw, and I have a few more coming out next, so if that’s your thing remember to keep checking in!

I’m Back!

Alright, that was a busy month! I left Midnight June 6th for a month long road trip across the country. My girlfriend Rachel and l drove all the way to San Francisco and back stopping at various parks and cities along the way!

Her ’08 Charger was our home for the month.

Right before we left, I finished some more drawings but didn’t have the chance to put them up, so here you go

Just in time for Fords at Carlisle here’s two more drawings I did for the NJStangers forum. These are both 18″x24″ with Watercolor.

Along the way we stopped for Friday’s qualifying for the Pikes Peak Hillclimb, had an awesome time and got some incredible pictures.

So now it’s time to go back to work, if anyone has any requests or questions about getting drawings, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

I would like to send a sincere thanks to the Dean of the School of Arts and Communications at TCNJ, John Laughton for the purchase award on one of my pieces from Twisted Metal! The piece will be on display in the Dean’s office for a year, then entered into The College of New Jersey’s permanent collection.

Twisted Metal Show at The College of New Jersey’s Gallery

Hey! My work has been selected to be part of TCNJ’s “4×4: The Debut Student Art Exhibition Series”. My exhibition, “Twisted Metal” will run from April 6-12 2010 in the new TCNJ art building (TCNJ.edu). The open times have not been set in stone, but as of now are Tuesday-Thursday April 6-8th from 12:00-7:ooPM, and Sunday April 11th from 1:00-3:00 PM. Other times are available by appointment.

Well i’ve finally perfected[enough] the screenprinting process, and have some very nice Infamous Jim’s shirts (and sweatshirts). The tee shirts are $15 and come in a bunch of different sizes/shapes/colors.
